Corrections and updates

If we get a fact wrong, we do not quietly rewrite history. We file a correction on the story, with a time stamp, in a dedicated section readers can find. If the news moved and the piece still stands, we file an update.

What is a correction

A material error: a name, a number, a date, a quote, a legal status, a claim we stated as settled that was not. The original mistake is named. The right fact replaces it here, not only in the body.

What is an update

New information that does not make the previous version false — a court that moved, a figure that was revised, a second source that arrived. The reader should see that the desk came back.

Desk check

A desk check is not a correction. It is the public note that a quote or a number in the copy is still fought, or was not on the wires we had. It uses the same rating as the ClaimReview markup — Contested or Unverified — so the page and the structured data agree. See how we check.

Write desk@atlasarchy.com. Put the story headline in the subject. If you are the subject of a piece, say so. We read it. We do not argue in the dark.
