Editorial standards

Last updated 24 August 2026

The Atlas is a news magazine. This page is the public record of how we meet Google News publisher policies — original work, named people, visible dates, and a way to reach the desk.

What we publish

Every story is written here. We read the global wire, cluster what the world is saying, then file analysis in a named editor’s voice. We do not scrape, reprint, or spin a single outlet’s copy. Headlines describe the story. They do not bait.

Bylines, dates, identity

Each article carries a named desk, a first publication time, and an updated time when the copy moves. The legal publisher is Atlasarchy. The masthead is the identity page. Contact the desk at desk@atlasarchy.com or on Contact.

Corrections

If we get a fact wrong, we file it. The corrections log is public. A correction stays on the story and in that log. We do not silently overwrite.

Fact-checking

Quotes, quantities and attributions are checked against the wires on the table. A claim that remains contested or unverified appears on the story as a desk check, with the same wording as the ClaimReview markup. Method: About.

Independence and ads

Editorial is not for sale. Advertising — including Google AdSense, if and when it is approved — is labelled. Sponsored copy, if we ever take it, will say so in the kicker. Privacy and cookies are on their own pages.

Access

The magazine is free. There is no registration wall and no first-click meter. Googlebot-News is allowed in robots.txt. Sitemaps, including the Google News sitemap, are submitted in Search Console.

What we will not do

  • Cloak a page or show Google a different story than the reader.
  • Publish private or sexually explicit material involving minors.
  • Invent sources, quotes, or datelines.
  • Leave a withdrawn story in the index — spiked copy is noindexed.

To appear in Google News, the remaining step is Publisher Center — a human application, not a tag. This page exists so that application has a URL to point at.
