The clip wants you to feel the old math. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor tells a room of X-Men, Wakandans, Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts to come back as family. The shot that closes it is Chris Evans’s Steve Rogers, back in the frame with Thor. Rolling Stone ran the reunion as the point of the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer, in theatres 18 December.
It is not the original six walking out of 2019. ScreenRant is blunt: Hawkeye and Hulk sit this one out; Iron Man and Black Widow stay dead, even with Robert Downey Jr. billed as Doctor Doom. Two of the first team in a hallway is a reunion. It is not a save.
What the trailer actually promises
Marvel has an Endgame encore in theatres from 25 September, a warm-up the studio is not shy about. The December film is the other half of that sentence: new teams, old faces, a villain who used to be Tony Stark in another costume. Thor’s line — “we’re going to need a miracle” — is a pep talk, not a plot leak. Treat it as marketing until the running time exists.
